THE DISTRICT AND THE ELECTRIC SYSTEM

HISTORY
The District was formed and chartered in 1937 under Chapter 72 of the Nevada State Session Laws of 1935 Power District Statute 312. Currently the District operates under the General Improvements Law Statues 318 of the Nevada's State Legislative Act of 1987.

ORGANIZATION
The District was formed as a municipal District administered by a Board elected by general election. The Board is comprised of five members each serving a 4-year term. The officers of the Board and the General Manager are appointed by the Board. The Board includes the following members:

Larry Moses, Vice Chairman
Gary Leavitt, Secretary
Craig Anderson,Trustee
Mike Featherston, Trustee

The current District's General Manager is Delmar Leatham who was appointed in 2005.

The District has a total of 42 full-time employees.

SERVICE TERRITORY
The District's service territory begins approximately 30 miles east of Las Vegas, Nevada, and encompasses approximately 1,932 square miles in the eastern portion of Clark County, Nevada, including the City of Mesquite, and the unincorporated communities of Bunkerville, Moapa, Glendale, Logandale and Overton. Within this primarily rural area, the District provides services to approximately 10,000 customers, of whom approximately 86% are residential customers, the balance being irrigation and general service customers.

The District is the electric utility serving the northeastern quarter of Clark County, Nevada. The District is bounded on the north by Lincoln County, Nevada and on the east by the State of Arizona. The southern boundary of the District is set by the Colorado River and Lake Mead, except at the District's southwestern corner. The southern boundary of the District north of Lake Mead's Boulder Basin and the District's western boundary follow township lines.
